Detail of the vintage: 2014-BUENA
The previous year, 2013, was characterized by being fresh and rainy, with a very short harvest. This allowed the vineyard to recover from the severe water stress accumulated for the 2014 harvest.
The budding begins the first week of April, with good temperature conditions (absence of frost) and lack of rain. This situation is very favorable and is maintained until after the curd, the end of June. The curdling was generous and without problems, predicting at that time a great harvest of quality and quantity.
From this moment, and already entered into summer there are frequent rains (but not excessive) and not too high temperatures. Not a single “heat wave” is recorded. To the large number of bunches, a high growth of the grains will be added, which reach a large diameter in some cases and make us think of a harvest of great quantity, but of heterogeneous quality according to the plots.
Deep into September, a sudden change of weather begins with rains from the middle of the month (without starting the harvest yet) until well into November and mild temperatures. There are the storms, which discharge in an almost torrential way with very few days of difference between them, which forces to accelerate the collection of the grapes to the maximum so as not to compromise the quality.
It should be noted that during the months of September and October 60 mm were recorded in Sotovin and 150 mm in El Monte.
The harvest was finished before the October rains, obtaining wines of very high quality. A great vintage.
